As Manager and Technical Lead of the Cross-Systems Investigation group, pioneered new methods to monitor data quality and assist in root cause analysis in an environment which was rapidly becoming more complex. The CSI group (2 Data Engineers with broad skill sets) was dedicated to providing end-to-end awareness and investigation capability, across silo and technology boundaries. The group also researched, designed, and implemented new monitoring techniques.Formulated strategy for the integration of data quality monitoring capabilities between legacy CMT systems and newly acquired TrueMotion systems (acquisition in 2021). Laid the foundation for future decision-oriented monitoring and investigation systems.

Navigated a rapid increase in system complexity (due to company growth and acquisition of new customers and new product lines).Mentored and developed QA staff, resulting in 3 ICs growing into management positions, and rapid career development for some others. Facilitated recruitment into QA from non-traditional pathways. Maintained morale through periods of rapidly expanding workload.Directed design of automated and analytical QA strategies. Organized the acquisition of sensor data on pre-release mobile software to enable analytical strategies. Advocated for early involvement of QA Engineers in product and feature design, as an alternative to over-the-fence procedures. Fostered the creation and growth of a tools-oriented QA culture, as an alternative to a manual-test culture. Sponsored a tools-development initiative to improve the company's instrumentation and data analysis capabilities.Subsequent to the acquisition of TrueMotion by CMT (2021), collaborated deeply with my counterpart at TrueMotion to facilitate the smoothest possible integration of QA teams and methodologies from the two companies.

As the first QA Engineer to be hired at CMT, initiated QA process coverage of a suite of mobile applications with integrated IoT sensor hardware, data storage platforms, and analytics engines.

In my initial role, as a senior member of the QA team, I held primary responsibility for testing all aspects of Actifio’s data deduplication engine, and shared responsibility for driving process reforms to scale and improve the effectiveness of the QA operation. This work included the design and execution of stress testing and performance benchmarking strategies for the deduplication engine, with emphasis on re-creating conditions that are observed in the field. I drove instrumentation of application components for functional and performance analysis, and worked closely with the deduplication dev team to translate programming concepts and algorithms into testable assumptions.From 2012-2015 I was designer and development lead of a data collection system for monitoring units in the field. The initial requirement was to improve speed and reliability of support response during outages. It has since become a crucial data source for the full spectrum of incident investigation. It also supports deep-dive analysis of deduplication performance in real-world conditions, enabling a data-driven ordering of development priorities.

Part of a cross-disciplinary team with broad responsibilities including capacity planning, utilization/performance data collection and analysis, backline application and infrastructure support, product evaluation, application performance modeling, and management reporting.In the backline support portion of this position, SOP was to be presented with a high-pressure problem with zero or inadequate specification, limited in-house application knowledge, no vendor assistance, possibly involving technology components we've never worked with before. When not occupied doing that, we automated processes and sharpened our tools to get ahead of the curve, while prepping for our next episode of "Mission: Implausible".

Held concurrent responsibilities for management of a 10-person MIS group, and leadership of an Application Programming team. Managed several major IT projects. Mentored and trained employees in all areas of IT. Collaborated with consultant on the design and implementation of a Data Warehouse from scratch; performed extensive modifications of a DataFlo ERP system as required to support activities of a dynamic and growing company.

I joined the company as a Unix sysadmin in September 1993. Responsibilities grew progressively as the company entered the Information Age: I directed a network buildout, assumed application development responsibility for a new ERP system, provided technical leadership as the MIS group expanded, and eventually managed an applications programming group. In this series of positions, I had hands-on involvement in every aspect of IT that can exist at a small (100-200 person) company.
