  • Advanced Compression Technologies - Act
    Vice President - Technical Marketing
Advanced Compression Technologies - Act Aug 1997 - Jul 1998
ACT purchased the "Intracell" patent developed by Jerry Knight and Ian Widger at ECT. ACT also purchased Sourcecom, a pioneering DSLAM inventor/manufacturer (Ali Saleh and Michael Zadikian) who were too early for the DSL market. ACT's strategy was to combine Jerry's IP with Sourcecom's platform to create the worlds first combined "Telco-in-a-box" multi-protocol packet-voice gateway and session border controller. Jerry was commissioned to help the Sourcecom team complete that development. The result was the SX-10 device that achieved general availability in August 1998. Jerry built the first iteration of AccessLine's network using the SX-10 technology.

NTC was the first consumer-oriented Internet public telephony service (very similar to Skype today). Through technology partnerships with Netspeak of Boca Raton for the client interface and ACT technologies for the unique iBridge technology NTC brought public internet telephone services to the residential marketplace in 1997.
