Vice President - Technical MarketingAdvanced Compression Technologies - Act Aug 1997 - Jul 1998ACT purchased the "Intracell" patent developed by Jerry Knight and Ian Widger at ECT. ACT also purchased Sourcecom, a pioneering DSLAM inventor/manufacturer (Ali Saleh and Michael Zadikian) who were too early for the DSL market. ACT's strategy was to combine Jerry's IP with Sourcecom's platform to create the worlds first combined "Telco-in-a-box" multi-protocol packet-voice gateway and session border controller. Jerry was commissioned to help the Sourcecom team complete that development. The result was the SX-10 device that achieved general availability in August 1998. Jerry built the first iteration of AccessLine's network using the SX-10 technology.
