As an ESE at Rackspace I serve a critical element within the Rackspace support infrastructure and have ownership of technical support for a designated customer base. I provide consulting services to customers on building, maintaining, and upgrading systems to meet customer needs. These needs can sometime require interfacing with and deployment within multiple cloud infrastructures including AWS, GCP, OpenStack and Rackspace Private Cloud. For GCP customers I designed and architected solutions to meet requirements in security and compliance. This required analysis and optimization of their business processes. When implementing the final solution, I would manage it to ensure operations reliability. When critical issues arise, I am required to apply creative techniques to identify the source of problems, while at the same time keeping the customer informed. I take the initiative on advising the customer of potential pitfalls they may experience going forward using existing or planned methods and suggest alternatives thatmay better serve the stability of their current environment. I propose and implement system enhancements that will improve their performance and reliability, while keeping in mind their cost savings. One such example was for a customer that replaced their aging Cisco firewalls with Palo Alto firewalls. When doing so they lost their ability to control password policies via active directory. To fix this problem, I implemented Multi-Factor Authentication access via RADIUS in order to integrate the vpn user accounts to AD. Samba was then used on the RADIUS server to authenticate to the active directory domain. This was a custom solution unique to this customer but was of my own design requiring my 24/7 support for a while until getting the customer engineers up to speed.

At Concourse Communications I am responsible for the maintenance and engineering of Linux based internet appliances deployed in airports nation wide. I am in charge of updating and enhancing the custom kiosk builds according to business and customer need. The duties required to this end include back porting kernel drivers from kernel 2.6 to 2.4, automating system builds, re compiling and packaging binaries and optimizing Xorg for the best possible performance. In addition I maintain the accounting systems that do data collection from the deployed kiosks. All of these systems run Red Hat, with versions varying between ES, AS and Red Hat 9. These systems interface with MagTek card readers and cash boxes for payment and store this data, user statistics and comments to a local mysql database.

At Marketernet I maintain the production data warehouse environment for this consumer credit data-mining firm. This system runs Solaris 9 and veritas volume manager on sparc E6500 platforms with A5200 storage arrays. My responsibility is to maintain and expand this system as needed by the business. Efforts toward this goal have included the addition of storage arrays, fiber channel hba's, processor boards and memory. In addition I am responsible for the securing and documentation of both development and production systems for auditor review.

At Harpo I was hired as a consultant to design and implement Oracle Application Suite and Enterprise manager in a Suse Linux environment. In addition, I was tasked with day to day support and engineering of the production applications, systems and network infrastructure for Oprah.com in an on call rotation. I was also responsible for the engineering, optimization and automation of the Suse Linux operating system on Sunfire X2100 and X4100 hardware. During my engagement I suggested, documented and implemented changes to the development and production environment to improve fault tolerance and efficiency. These included electrical load balancing as well as server operating system patch level and upgrade impact and point of failure analysis. I also engineered and documented a scalable and fault tolerant list serve infrastructure using Strongmail email appliances and the Maestro list generation engine.

was charged with the engineering, optimization and analysis of vital production systems from both an operational and architectural perspective. 7 x 24 administration in a web hosting organization providing support of 200+ servers from Netra T1s to SunFire 4810's. My responsibilities included the design and engineering of mission critical application systems and database software. My team and myself implemented a site wide migration of our application tier from Sun Solaris on sparc hardware to Red Hat Linux on Intel. I planned and implemented a live load balancer migration successfully without loss of customer communication. My tasks included securing and optimizing Linux servers to maximize performance for a given application server release. I profiled system applications and kernels for performance improvements; sought out and implemented kernel tunings based on the application deployed, and challenged vendor specified tunings when warranted.

Responsible for all aspects of the technical planning, specification, design and engineering pertaining to critical network infrastructure company wide. Highly visible projects included the re engineering of the production network architecture and a production data center move. I planned and engineered a production data center move between two local data centers without customer impact, retaining 100% uptime during the migration. I re engineered the production switching and load-balancing infrastructure through the deployment of Foundry FastIron 800 switches, Foundry ServerIron load balancing switches, and Cisco PIX firewalls. Metro-area redundancy was achieved through the implementation of point-to-point DS3 circuits in a fully meshed topology on the Cisco 3725 router platform. In addition to networking, my duties also included senior level Linux server support, troubleshooting and engineering across multiple vendor platforms.

Senior level support and engineering of Microsoft NT and Novell Netware network servers for corporate headquarters and 250 remote facilities nation-wide. Responsible for the engineering and deployment of remote backup domain controllers, wins servers and Novell NDS replicas. Un-attended server application deployment and troubleshooting via SMS v1.2. Managed and engineered a 5000+ node domain split project. Engineered and deployed SMS packages to all NT workstations facilitating an un-attended domain membership change. Analysis of customer need with relation to informational systems and capacity issues. Installation and administration of Novel LAN bridged to four AS/400's using Netware for SAA 1.3 to route 5250 data streams across four 56K channels of a T1. External RND routers were used to relay and convert Ethernet frames to 16M Token Ring architecture. Rumba was used for 5250 terminal emulation, running over an 8bit Netsoft 5250 router for Netware. File server backup provided by Arcserve. UTP 10baseT cabling primarily levels 3 and 5 but including IBM Type 1 (twinax) troubleshooting and installation. Implementation of version 1.3 and 2.02 of SAA for NetWare gateway services to facilitate communications between multiple upstream hosts and resources.

Implementation and technical support of a 100+ user AS/400 and PC Support network. File, device and printer sharing implemented over SNA using both 5250 and 16-Megabit Token Ring attached workstations. DLO security managed utilizing group profiles and access levels. Remote access to the AS/400 provided by an IBM 8235 dial up hub attached to the ring. Terminal emulation, DLO access and workstation remote control achieved via the 8235 across the ring using IBM's LAN Support, DOS based DLC protocol stack.
