Osp Engineer Iii
Current• Perform outside plant fiber engineering (OSP) design activities related to building and expanding Verizon Business network fiber. Oversee project engineering design, implementation, and testing of new fiber builds that maximize network reliability using cost effective solutions.• Develop overall design and manage fiber network expansion builds in coordination with vendors to ensure sound fiber delivery for Small Cell, In-Building, C-BAND, Fiber Conversion, and Macro projects within the City of Chicago, surrounding suburbs, and municipalities.• Provide project cost savings by investigating a combination of underground, aerial, 3rd party conduit, or incorporating future/other network build types to lower the overall average project cost of long haul/high-cost builds. • QC Construction drawings, As-builts, and construction closeout photos to ensure sound design and project completion to Verizon & municipal restoration standards.• Perform and coordinate site walks with vendors when needed to verify meet-me-points, hand off points, and most cost-effective route.• Ensuring designated fiber path from customer to Hub meets Verizon’s diversity & failure domain standards.• Review and approve test results for completed projects to ensure they adhere to Verizon’s acceptable testing standards & fiber cable, panel, and ports are labeled to standard.• Coordinate project activities with external contractors, engineering firms, developers, municipalities, and consultants to ensure project permitting, engineering, budget, and construction stays on track.• Work independently with minimal supervision, exercising latitude to achieve daily objectives, changes in project planning, and develop solutions to critical/complex internal assignments to bolster project efficiency.• Prepares detailed cost analysis, route mapping, requisitions, and business justifications based on project location & network availability within the designated project area.• Review and approve invoices.
