Undergraduate Research Assistant
I analyzed and compiled data collected by the Green Bank Telescope in Green Bank, West Virginia and the Arecibo Observatory in Arecibo, Puerto Rico. This data involved pulsars, which are rapidly rotating neutron stars. Due to the fact that these telescopes collect data in the radio frequency from celestial objects, there is a copious amount of background noise from here on Earth that is reflected off of our own atmosphere and into the telescopes. I sifted through the data in order to eliminate the radio frequency interference to obtain the raw, necessary data.
