My role is to lead the FPGA solution while working within an integrated project team.

I continued my role as a Senior Systems Design Engineer but I was also tasked to train associate engineers to help with the development efforts for the Javelin Test System.

I lead the effort of porting a design targeting an obsolete FPGA device to a relatively newer FPGA device to ensure continuous product availability. Also, I translated a soft IP core that used DDR2 technology to use the newer DDR3 technology. Furthermore, I developed a newer generation communication controller for the Javelin Test System to improve its performance.

In general, my role was to participate in the architectural level design and development of the Javelin Test System but my central role was mainly to develop FPGA-based projects. So, I owned the development of high-speed communication interfaces, automated control of instrumentation circuits, and algorithmic data processors using FPGA and CPLD devices to help make the Javelin Test System very competitive. I also developed several IP cores that involve high-speed communication and memory interfaces.

My main role was to design circuits using digital and analog components to meet customer requirements. I also developed microcontroller projects using C/C++ and Assembly, designed PCBs using CAD software, built project prototypes, and performed hardware-level troubleshooting. My role also required me to outline product manufacturing steps, develop product testing procedures, and document project developments.

Basically, the time that I spent as a consultant propelled my interest in electronics research, design, and development. As a consultant, I worked with projects that required automation, wireless communications, robotics, and programming.
