Lead Based Pipe Dope Guidance Document:- I put together a guidance document about the various health affects lead based pipe dope can have on the worker, the worker's family and the environment.- This document included a presentation that was presented to various employees all throughout the UCHES Department.Hazard Communication Guidance Document:- I organized a template for international business units to use when they create their individual hazard communication programs.- I had to organize it in a way where our business units that currently follow GHS guidelines and those that don't were following the same format and style.Indoor Air Quality Guidance Document:- This project was an extra project that was given to me when I continually asked for more work.- I started to make a guidance document that any business unit could use to inform them about the possible health affects of poor indoor air quality.Waste Management Technology Standards: One Page Summaries:- To make it easier on the various business units, I worked with the waste management environmental team to make easy reference handouts for the current waste management standards.- These documents will allow the business units to reference quickly what are and are not Chevron's current standards

Throughout my time at CNA, I had the opportunity to research and compile information on various Risk Control and Industrial Hygiene related topics. I worked closely with my supervisors, peers and those at the corporate level to achieve success not only for my work but for the company. When certain assigned projects were completed, I took the initiative to find new tasks to complete that would better help our clients whom we serve. While compiling this information, I had the opportunity to visit various work sites and evaluate the hazards not just to the workers, but potential losses to the company and our clients.

Updated and Created New Safety Programs:- I was able to update preexisting safety and health programs, such as Heat Stress, Hearing Conservation and Respiratory Protection. Performed Internal Safety Audits:- I had the privilege of performing internal audits by observing the then current workplace practices and made the necessary changes to be compliance. Throughout that process, I also had the ability to train and teach employees on company wide standards and regulations. Noise Mapping: - I returned a few months after finishing my employment with Treehouse to offer free noise consultation as part of my then current Noise Protection class. I tested both their facilities for elevated noise levels and offered my recommendations, as were pertinent.Trained future safety specialist on future job:- I trained the current safety specialist on her job duties and responsibilities, as well as give suggestions on how to relate better to the workers.Petitioned Help from Cal/OSHA Consultation:- While knowing that my health and safety experience was limited, I petitioned management to invite Cal/OSHA Consultation to come and evaluate our work site for any possible overlooked workplace hazards. Built Safety Culture:- One of the biggest rewards of this experience was the ability to see the safety culture within California Treehouse Almonds grow. While I was able to relate to both English and Spanish speaking workers, I was able to help them all realize why safety maters. On my last day at work, one of the managers came up to me and thanked me for my work and for opening his eyes to things not previously realized before. That little bit of change means everything to me.

Fire Protection Systems:- My work focused on the weekly, monthly and yearly maintenance of the university's fire protection systems, ie. fire extinguishers, sprinkler systems and fire suppression systems.Servicing Extinguishers:- During my employment with Security & Safety, I was in charge of changing out and replacing fire extinguisher's that were in need of servicing and replaced them with new, up-to-date extinguishers. I took the initiative and organized a way for over 300 extinguishers to be serviced in 6 months, which hadn't been serviced in the previous 3 years combined. I also personally serviced those extinguishers for their annual, 6 year and hydro testing.

Updated and Organized Incident Reports:- My main project was to organize and update the West Coast Region's incident reporting system where management could view and understand current incident trends. I was able to understand what tasks provided the most potential incidents and how they affected our workers and our team.Safety and Health Programs:- I also had the opportunity to update current West Coast Region safety and health programs.Blood Drive:- I took the initiative to organize a blood drive with the surrounding businesses in less than 3 weeks. This was an effort to get our name out there in the community and invite others to serve.
