As a Basic Needs CalFresh Outreach Lead at UC Merced, I increased awareness and participation in the CalFresh program through outreach campaigns, presentations, and peer-to-peer assistance. I provided leadership in developing training materials, managed outreach tasks, and supported the Basic Needs Center and Bobcat Pantry operations, ensuring students had access to essential nutrition assistance and campus wellness resources.

As part of my NASA KelpFire Research Internship, I participated in the Summer Undergraduate Research Institute (SURI) at UC Merced, continuing the NASA KelpFire research project under the guidance of Professor Erin Hestir. I attended workshops on graduate school preparation, professional development, and career planning, and engaged in weekly meetings with my research mentor. At the end of the 9-week program, I presented my research through a poster presentation at the Annual Summer Undergraduate Research Symposium. This experience enhanced my research skills, ethical understanding, and ability to communicate my findings to diverse audiences, preparing me for future academic and professional endeavors.

In my role as a Basic Needs CalFresh Student Advocate at UC Merced, I worked directly with students to increase awareness and participation in the CalFresh program. I helped implement outreach campaigns, guided students through the CalFresh application process, and offered public presentations to promote hunger awareness. Additionally, I supported the Basic Needs Center by maintaining knowledge of various campus wellness resources, providing excellent customer service, and assisting with food distribution and pantry operations. This experience strengthened my public relations, outreach, and communication skills.
