During this research project, I worked on the chemical modification of PLA to enhance its biodegradability. The functionalization of PLA was achieved, thereby altering the polymer properties, such as glass transition temperature and crystallinity.

This project, in collaboration with the energy transition team within Shell and NAM, was focused on synergies between biomass valorization and a blue hydrogen plant with CCS possibilities. We delivered a technical report with strategic advice regarding future possibilities.

Coached by top consulting firms, like McKinsey, Roland Berger, BCG and Bain, I provided strategic advice to diverse enterprises, multinationals and government institutions. I completed six projects, of which three as project manager. Five of these projects were in the green energy and chemistry sector. Besides project work, I was responsible for operations, recruitment and setting up a new office in Utrecht.

In my role as the student member of a selection committee, I was responsible for selecting and hiring a new tenure track assistant professor for the University of Groningen.

In the NMR department I was responsible for managing NMR spectroscopy for the chemistry department.

De Chemische Binding is a study association for Chemistry and Chemical Engineering students at the Rijksuniversiteit Groningen. As Treasurer, I was mainly responsible for management of the finances and inventory of the study association, as well as being the official financial contact of the association. Tasks outside the scope of this function involved organization, supervision and participation in activities that were educational, career and social related. This experience has got me acquainted with the management of an association and close collaboration in a small group.
