20 years in not for profit organisations, with a focus on ensuring children and young people’s voices are taken seriously, barriers to participation are removed and services better meet their needs.I have a lifelong interest in disability sport and took time out to support a team of photographers with logistics during the London 2012, Rio 2016 and Paris 2024 Paralympic Games. In this role I had overall responsibility for shaping and delivering empowering and engaging wheelchair skills and life skills training for young wheelchair users that promoted and developed independence, assisting young people in their transition into adulthood. My role also included updating and delivering Train the Trainer training for staff and volunteers delivering Whizz-Kidz's services, as well as mandatory Disability Equality training for all staff and volunteers in the charity.My long-term focus was on exploring how services would become sustainable, seeking new opportunities to build effective partnerships and income generating initiatives such as Disability Equality Training for staff working throughout the UK at both the British Red Cross and Jardine Motors Group.I led the UK-wide Young People's Services Department whilst the Director post was vacant, working with the Senior Management Team and reporting directly to the CEO.

I managed the team who grew the network from 11 club locations to over 40, focussing on developing best practice models and quality assurance. I created age appropriate information for children and young people about health, illness and the human body. Once approved by a clinician, the information developed was used to create a unique and interactive website for children and young people: developed to reduce feelings of anxiety and isolation amongst children and young people with chronic illnesses. I developed content management skills and uploaded all content to the website, ensuring that information online was tagged appropriately so that it was easy for young people to find. As well as answering queries via the WellChild helpline, I laid foundations for a user involvement group. I also supported the team delivering the first ever WellChild Awards ceremony in 2006 by liaising with shortlisted nominees in the run up to the event.
