Coordinated the legislative efforts for the anti-poverty legislative agenda for the Oregon Business Council Poverty Task Force. Advocated in the 2016 and 2017 Oregon legislative sessions. Responsible for foundational research and advocacy for two bills that eventually became law. In 2016 HB 4110, increased the Earned Income Tax Credit for families with children 3 and under. In 2017, we worked with community partners to pass a bill notifying taxpayers of the possible availability of the Earned Income Tax Credit. We also advocated for the 2017 Safety and Savings Act that restructured sentencing for certain low-level crimes and funded alternative prison departure programs for mothers, keeping families together and helping Oregon to avoid opening a new women's prison.
