I’m Jess, an eccentric product designer and product manager with ten-plus years of experience in a SAAS start-up environment. I’m passionate about creating scalable human-centered experiences! I lead work and life with empathy, humility, and grace. I love using strategic problem-solving skills to define relationships between business objectives, user challenges, product management, and design. I’m a Product Manager, UX designer, UX researcher, UI designer, and product designer who wants to build alongside other passionate individuals and users to create inclusive product experiences that help people have a better quality of life. I am a strong advocate to build with and not for, and I’m humble enough to admit I’m not the user and we need their insights to create a quality product that helps solve both their needs and business needs. I've led and designed many internal and external features from start to finish, collaborated directly with business owners, CEOs, and cross-department leaders, identified and researched user pain points, and created different levels of fidelity wireframes/prototypes throughout my career. I've had the pleasure of facilitating discovery workshops, creating spaces where people are safe & encouraged to be bold ask questions and challenge the conversation to dive into the why. I delight in mentoring and seeing others grow. I also enjoy being mentored and coached to grow myself.I care about my craft, so I do my best to stay up to date on our evolving industry by constantly reading materials published by leading peers in our field, following those peers on social platforms, and attending conferences.I love what I do because I'm passionate about helping others. During my tenured years at Vintage Software I Established and built the product department, which pivoted the company's direction to become a more user-centric organization helping grow from a 1.2M dollar market value in 2014 to a 6M dollar market value in 2022.As the Product Design Manager and Product Manager, I played a critical role in driving cross-departmental projects to success by serving as the central point of contact and facilitating meetings that kept everything on track. I collaborated closely with executive staff to bring their vision to reality and demonstrated impact.I conducted user research and used the findings to inform design decisions, resulting in intuitive and engaging user experiences. I created wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity designs that were used to communicate and test design concepts. I was able to mentor junior designers and encourage their professional growth. I successfully led multiple projects, delivering complex and scalable designs for mobile, desktop, and web applications. Through participating in user research, both quantitive and qualitative, I leveraged findings artfully that influenced the business to prioritize features that drove our NPS score to 77.I helped translate ideas and feedback into their underlying problems and created solutions in varying levels of fidelity using whiteboard sketches, wireframes, flow charts, and interactive prototypes. In a fast-paced, agile environment, I made compromises that respected scope, effort, and user experience. I continually improved the product strategy and process, such as including the dev team more in discovery to help gauge effort and insight, which enabled us to focus on low-effort, high-impact solutions over the high-effort, low-impact and created a better relationship between the teams. Additionally, I utilized the design thinking methodology and user-centered design principles to ensure that our solutions were solving the right problems for our users.I also spearheaded the adoption of the Material Design System that speeded up production since we were no longer maintaining and creating a custom style guide.
