Demonstrator
Edinburgh, Scotland, United Kingdom
Whilst in the 4th year of my degree I was a demonstrator within the classes Creative Technology, Responsive Environments and Playful Interaction. In these sessions I provided assistance to students with their projects. This job allowed me to learn more about how classes are structured and taught whilst assisting students. Within these modules I helped with Arduino, Processing and Max MSP which are pieces of software I have a wide range of knowledge in. During my 3rd year of BSc Interactive Media Design at Edinburgh Napier, I also demonstrated within the Playful Interaction module. This role allowed me to gain an understanding of teaching, and how best to support students when they are learning. This often took the form of guiding them towards a solution, rather than just giving straight code examples. The module mainly consisted of Arduino-based design, a platform with which I have previous experience. This experience allowed me to develop new skills and combine them with previous knowledge to help my peers learn. I would like to build on teaching more as I heavily enjoyed this role.
