About Jess Walker
As the President of Nottingham Trent Students' Union in 2024/25, I was elected by the students, for the students.The role involves chairing the Trustee Board and relevant committees, planning governance business with the CEO, and acting as NTU Governor when requested. The responsibilities include ensuring an effective strategy and KPIs, managing strategic staffing decisions, and maintaining the relationship between the CEO and the Trustee Board. As chair, I engage with the student body to represent their views, liaise with senior university staff, and articulate student perspectives in meetings to effect positive change. Additionally, the role of President involves leading and delegating within the Executive Team, managing the Union’s relationship with NTU, overseeing democratic procedures, and acting as a spokesperson. Further duties include overseeing Freshers' Team management, implementing policies and campaigns, liaising with NUS and other unions, staying informed on HE sector trends, and prioritising campaigns with available resources.Prior to post as President 2024/25, I was elected as Vice President Education 2023/24.I recently completed a Bachelor's degree in Business from Nottingham Business School (Nottingham Trent University), with a result of 2.1 overall and a 1st in my dissertation researching consumer purchasing behaviour. During my higher education, I excelled in marketing modules and have since been passionate about pursuing a career in the marketing industry.
