Lindley Sixth Grade Academy receives the Greatest Gain Award in the Gold category for exhibiting high growth in student achievement by earning a three-year average CCRPI Progress Score in at least the 93rd percentile in the state. LSGA is one of 25 Cobb schools being recognized out of 218 schools across the State of Georgia.

Greater Atlanta Area

Through the Woodrow Wilson Teaching Fellowships, the Foundation aims to bring talented people with outstanding backgrounds in the STEM disciplines (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) into teaching in much-needed areas, while also elevating the status of the profession. Fellows from other Woodrow Wilson programs have gone on to achieve international recognition as intellectual leaders and top scholars, including 13 Nobel Laureates, 35 MacArthur “genius grant” Fellows, and two Fields Medalists in mathematics. During my time as a Woodrow Wilson Georgia Teaching Fellow, I have represented these standards of scholarship and leadership by maintaining a 4.0 and being awarded a $5,500 grant to create Whiteboard walls at my clinical placement.

The Academy for Inclusive Learning and Social Growth hires current Kennesaw State University students to be peer mentors for Academy audit students and assist them with academics and internships. Responsibilities include but are not limited to helping revise assignments and exams, assisting with schedule management and accessing technology (such as D2L), maintaining documentation for weekly progress, breaking down tasks into teachable components, acting as liaison between students/faculty/staff, and encouraging social engagement on campus.

Working with individual students and classes in the following areas: SAT Prep, TOEFL Prep, GRE Prep, Essay Writing, Reading, Conversation, Grammar, Vocabulary, personal tutoring.

Kennesaw, Georgia

Project: Online Intercultural Education and Training for Study Abroad Engagement • Assist with the collection of data and conduct first level data analysis. • Conduct a literature review on intercultural competence and international education/study abroad to be used by the PIs for future publication. • Assist with any necessary research associated with the development of online module content in Fall 2015, and • Plan and research activities related to the symposium and educational sessions for April 2016.

Taiwan

Responsible for leading the English academic program which serves students in grades 1-9. Primary responsibilities include curriculum development, assessment and instruction methodology, text book acquisition, as well as teacher supervision and review. Additionally, I acted as lead teacher, exemplifying best teaching practices. * Developed benchmarks and curricula for 66 course offerings and 8 grades.* Designed and administered diagnostic assessments and placement exams.* Recruited, supervised, and mentored diverse faculty.* Increased retention of private students by 45% in 7 months by introducing a system ofdata­driven instruction and by sharing that program with staff, students, and parents.

Taichung, Taiwan

Taught Literature and Language Arts for ELL students in grades 7-12. At this WASC-accredited boarding school, I served as both teacher, dorm advisor, and faculty mentor. Prepared students to enter such universities as UCLA, NYU, and SCAD. Developed benchmarks and curriculum for traditional and bridge courses. Routinely received excellent evaluations from supervisors, parents, and students. Sponsored activities such as Novel Writing Month, MASSive Concert, and House Teams.* Served on committees for accreditation, development, and learning.* In 2013, one of 20 teachers selected from over 500 applicants to design a lesson withTED­Ed (“How Fiction Can change Reality?) which has been viewed over 200,000 times.

Carrollton, Georgia

Developed course syllabi, selected texts, and designed prompts for classes for the First Year Writing Program. Sole-taught multiple sections of 1101 and 1102. Maintained instructional materials on website. Wrote and course-tested an on-line textbook entitled "Reading Our Cultural Text." Routinely received excellent evaluations from supervisors and students. *  The only GTA in my cohort selected to mentor and provide workshops for peers.*  Presented methods at the national Southwest/Texas PCA/ACA conference.*  Awarded Faculty Member of the Year in 200-8­2009 by the Student Government.

Kennesaw, Georgia

Worked with Center Director to develop archival record of Cobb County Teachers. Edited, researched, and completed transcription of interview tapes. Indexed 21 transcripts for three-volume bound edition. Worked with Horace W. Sturgis Library and KSU Press. Oversaw interns for KSU Press to increase productivity. Created training packets for interns to ensure accuracy. Completed project and received excellent evaluation from Center Director. Manuscript was published through KSU’s Horace W. Sturgis Library and through GALILEO.
