•Cultivated, developed and strengthened relationships with local organizations, donors, supporters, social service agencies, academic professionals, media outlets, journalists and policymakers•Served as the media relations coordinator, which included giving interviews, researching background information, preparing staff and refugees for interviews, and compiling statistical and program information for reporters•Raised awareness about refugee issues/challenges by developing advocacy and communication strategies, conducting outreach presentations, developing informational materials (fact sheets, newsletters, online social media tools, etc.), updating the website and organizing local campaigns to support relevant national legislation such as the International Violence Against Women Act•Organized and planned advocacy, public education and fundraising events regularly; past events include: Trafficking Panel Conference, annual International Women’s Day Fundraising Luncheons, Symposium on Iraq, 10th Anniversary Art Exhibition and Film Screening and regular brown bag seminars and workshops on international refugee crises •Oversaw all in-kind donations, including securing material goods, facilitating distribution, issuing tax receipts and cultivating relationships with in-kind donors and local businesses•Served as point person for the Match Grant program and ensured that over $190,000 is raised annually through in-kind donations and volunteer hours and reported accurately in Match Grant documents and finance reports
