It requires 3 fundamental things: understanding what interventions are needed to leave the marine environment in a measurably better state, how much of these interventions are required, and how do we demonstrably measure it? What are we doing? To answer those fundamental questions, we are building a strong evidence base to inform policymaking through the following projects: 1. MaRePo+ (Marine Restoration Potential + enhancement) is a 2-year collaborative Defra and The Crown Estate Offshore Wind Energy and Change programme funded project. It will refine our habitat restoration potential models, to improve both the confidence of the models and remove areas of constraint (where restoration would not be possible).2. MNGAF (Marine Net Gain Assessment Frameworks project) builds on the MNG metric exploration work from last year, widening the scope to look at a range of potential ways of measuring and comparing marine losses and gains, to promote marine recovery overall. 3. MIH (Marine Irreplaceable Habitats) project is working collaboratively with the Marine Biological Association and Plymouth Marine Laboratory to map where irreplaceable habitats occur in English waters. Through previous projects MIH has been defined using a scoring system, so the mapped MIH will be presented as a heat map that illustrates how irreplaceable those habitats are.4. Marine Net Gain Pilots Development Project will develop a suite of pilot project plans with recommendations which aim to identify, scope out, and develop a series of “shovel ready” pilot projects to be carried out on the ground, and to test the principles of MNG with developers. The pilots will consider and challenge a range of options across different marine environments, industries and spatial scales, trialling different policy options and demonstrate pathways for practical implementation of MNG. Creating easily digestible 'How To' tutorial documents for using the POS software to its maximum potential, by distilling and collating information from anecdotal experience and user manuals.Liaising with other businesses in the centre for combined events and to ensure good working relations.Creating appropriate and eye-catching signage to maximise interpretation and proper use of the centre and its associated facilities.Creating a staff room space for staff to use during breaks.
