I attended various workshops and talks from industry professionals and gained experience of sailing different types of vessels from rowing boats and dinghies to Sailing Barges and Brixham Trawlers. Over the winter i completed a bespoke 3 month course at IBTC Lowestoft, who provided crash courses in everything from joinery, welding and sail making to lofting, rigging and engine maintenance.I attended the ASTO conference and took part in the launch of Pilot Cutter 'Pellew'.In my spare time i have been completing RYA Day Skipper Theory and by the end of the year i hope to have achieved my Day Skipper Practical and MCA Diesel Engine qualifications, as well as adding to my sea miles!I write a blog each month for National Historic Ships about the traineeship - take a look ! -
