Profile bio

About Jessica Dietzen

I'm a web developer with undergraduate-level coursework in both visual design (major) and computer science (hefty minor). I have some graduate-level training in user experience and the user-centered design process.I have 3 years of experience working in and with advertising agencies and 3 years of experience working in state government. Most of my experience is in full-stack development, but given my background and interests, I often play a big role in interface choices and comfortably take on design entirely.I am thorough, detail-oriented, and interdisciplinary. It warms my heart to work with people who appreciate best practices, peer review, and a sense of humor. I've overcome a lot to stay in this field, but I'm still here.My primary tools at this time are JavaScript/Angular/Vue.js and ColdFusion. I have dabbled in React. I'm open to learning new languages and frameworks, and I am good at teaching myself. My coding preferences, habits, and overall self-awareness in a nutshell:• I am a big fan of modular code• I like working with established frameworks• I like tapping into advanced language and framework features• I like experimenting with different approaches and styles to common problems• I like writing code that is testable• I don't always remember how to write certain data structures and algorithms on the spot, but I know what they are and in what kinds of scenarios I should be leveraging them• I often practice and check my understanding on services like CodePen and CodeSandbox, which ultimately now serve as nice personal references• I do care if we are using spaces or tabs – I even set invisible characters to visible in my editor• I do believe in style guides, and if we don't have one, I will encourage us to use a good one that's been reviewed by a larger community – or better yet, use a code formatter• I use source control, often working on feature branches that get merged with team code

Listed skills include Css, Angularjs, Less, Bootstrap, and 25 others.
