Jesse Beck has been working in the landscape horticulture field for over twenty years, including the last nine years with the IUPUI grounds department. Jesse developed a tree canopy plan to address the unique challenges of an urban forester to ensure IUPUI meets their canopy coverage goals. Jesse is an active member of the Indianapolis community volunteering with Bike Indianapolis, East Downtown Indianapolis Neighborhoods, Circle City CISMA, and with Keep Indianapolis Beautiful. Through these connections, he has leveraged community organizations to help create volunteer opportunities for students planting trees, campus cleanups, creating a pollinator garden, and invasive plant management. He is an avid bike commuter and helps lead social rides to encourage beginner cyclists to engage more with their city.
