One of my core memories as a child was when I programmed my first video game—I think I was 9 or 10–and watched my friends play it around the dining room table. For the first time in my life, I was seeing people laugh and get excited by simple lines of code I had written. From then on, I had a direction for my career. I don’t see code as merely scientific, mathematical, and rigid, though understanding the technical side is vitally important. However, what’s equally important is the soft side, that beautiful crossroad between the science and the humanities. I believe software is an art form: computers are a canvas and coding is my paintbrush. I currently work at Viasat as a Software Engineer where I take that passion and apply it to the automation of realtime embedded systems for RFEG. I’ve also continued indie game development and have experience self-publishing to Steam, the Apple App Store, Google Play, and the web. I have a Bachelor’s in Computer Science (Computing Systems and Artificial Intelligence) where I learned the fundamentals of Machine Learning and Natural Language Processing which I have continued researching as my career unfolds. Regardless of the medium, that core passion and drive to create software products that make an impact and change tomorrow remains the same today and always.
