The Office of New Student Orientation guides incoming University students in their transition to higher education by creating programs that connect them with campus resources and other students.As a graphic design intern, I created print and digital marketing materials to aid the office in reaching its goals. I managed a social media campaign called "One Summer Changes Everything" aimed at recruiting students to apply to become Orientation Leaders.

As an Orientation Leader, I was a guide to help transition first year students into the University of South Carolina through engaging and informative programming. Responsibilities included being a resource for information about campus offices and activities, facilitating discussion about first year student experience in small group breakout sessions, and assisting with the overall logistics of orientation programming.

As a University 101 Peer Leader, my main responsibility was to co-instruct a first-year seminar course of 19 students. This involved creating lesson plans, delivering course content in engaging ways, coordinating out-of-class meeting times, and evaluating coursework. The Peer Leader also acts as a mentor to answer student questions and offer guidance for common issues facing first-year students.I was invited to deliver remarks to our cohort at the annual Peer Leader banquet that the University 101 office hosts. I also served on the Peer Leader advisory council, a group of outstanding Peer Leaders that discuss ideas to improve both the University 101 experience and the Peer Leadership experience.
