As an intern at FAST, I worked alongside other FASTies and government employees to determine the necessary functions of our integrated tax processing software in order to implement changes and develop solutions to complex problems. With a focus in providing production support, my daily tasks included consulting with FASTies and other government employees to determine customer needs, as well as collaborating with my team to develop, execute, and test our solutions.

As an undergraduate teaching assistant for introductory physics with calculus, I educated students on concepts including mechanics, wave motion, thermal physics, electromagnetism, and optics. Moreover, I hosted my own three hour lab period with over 30 students, as well as proctored examinations and held weekly office hours.

While on the floor I helped to maintain the display of merchandise and restock certain products, with an emphasis on assisting consumers in the process of finding the right product for their specific needs and desires. In shipping and receiving I helped receive shipments, process all incoming products, and deliver back-stock merchandise to sales associates on the floor when necessary.

Calculated the velocity dispersions of globular clusters orbiting galaxies NGC 6822, M31, and M110. Using this information, I was able to compute the estimated mass of these globular clusters, and from that determine crucial information about the clusters’ history for my professor’s publication. In October 2012 I was named a National Siemens Competition Semi-finalist for the research I did during this internship.
