Montour Trail Director Of Security
Current“First and current “Director of Montour Trail Security”. My work with the Montour Trail began in 1998. In 1998 with the recommendation of Robinson Township Allegheny Co. Police Chief Dale Vietmeier, I then began working with the Montour Trail Council to establish a group of civilian “Trail Monitor Patrols”. I served as a voting member of the Montour Trail Board of Directors for 6 Years. It is notable that the Montour Trail is an all volunteer organization and starting the Patrol group was a group effort. In 2004 by an MTC Board motion I was appointed the “Director of Montour Trail Security”. Although currently not a voting Board Member, I report directly to the Board and provide monthly “Security Reports”. I also serve as the emergency contact with four Police jurisdictions and as the liaison with both the Allegheny County 911 Emergency Center and the Washington County 911 Emergency Center. Public Relations are very important part of the Director’s position. It has been my pleasure to work with with the public and all of the police departments along the Montour Trail. The October 2011 edition of West Allegheny West Magazine published an article I wrote titled “Area Police Keep the Montour Trail Safe; Use Trail for Personal Fitness and Enjoyment”. The Police do a very professional job of keeping the Trail safe and I plan on doing more to get that story out to the public in the future. The Montour Trail is an all Volunteer organization. The Montour Trail is a multi-use non-motorized recreational rail-trail near Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and will ultimately extend 46 miles from Moon Township near Coraopolis to Clairton.
