Moving to Grand Rapids, MI late August 2024 from Bristol, NH. Currently searching for a full-time role which can align with my internship and clinical education hours. As a Clinical Mental Health Counseling intern working towards becoming licensed in the state of Michigan (LPC), I pride myself in helping individuals overcome and have a better understanding of a variety of life challenges that can interfere with one's mental health. Along with my education in the Psychology field from both the University of New Hampshire and Southern New Hampshire University, my diverse background in sales/management and working in residential human service settings have given me a diverse outlook on many professional settings. My core belief as a counselor is the importance of understanding that everyone's journey throughout life is unique and will be challenged by it's own set of circumstances that will not always be easy to overcome and process. It is my job to listen and try to understand these circumstances that are making life challenging and try my best to share perspective on them, while being a resource for the client to help create a plan to achieve personal goals that they have and live a more comfortable and fulfilling lifestyle. There are many fundamental pillars to counseling and each counselor's philosophy on treatment will differ. I personally believe that by gaining an understanding of one's past life events is the key to positive change and that past decisions do not need to define an individual's story. Community and connections with others give us a sense of being a part of something bigger; this could be your work-life, your passion project or your family and friends. It is different for everybody and sometimes it takes time to discover what is important to you. Having healthy hobbies and interests allows us to enjoy the hard labors of the day to day grind and give us moments to look forward to. For me, spending time outdoors, hiking, yoga and weightlifting are hobbies that keep me grounded and help me reflect when I am becoming overwhelmed.I am passionate about helping children and young adults discover their interests and helping them achieve goals in life that seem unreachable. By focusing on how one's internal dialogue can affect our actions and behaviors, I strive to teach clients about healthy decision making and that over time positive change will come. Key counseling interests of mine include: Stress/Anxiety Management, Understanding Major Life Changes, Understanding the Affects of Different Traumatic Events and Crisis Intervention.
