• Undertake a range of data entry, data migration, quality control and data delivery tasks on geological data using relational databases and web services.• Design and construction of new databases to manage complex geological data types.• Train junior staff and provide advice to research scientists on appropriate geological data management practice.• Contribute to inter-agency projects, providing data management services and advice.• Develop data-entry forms for Geoscience Australia’s various databases.

The Geoscience Data Officer is responsible for compiling and managing geological and related digital data to support the geoscience projects of Geoscience Australia’s Minerals, Energy and Groundwater Division.Roles and Responsibilties:• Collation of data from unstructured legacy geological reports into structured formats suitable for digital data analysis.• Entry of data into GA's Oracle databases such as boreholes, lithostratigraphy, biostratigraphy, geochemistry, geophysics and mineral resource information.• Description and cataloguing of geological specimens in GA's databases.• QA/QC of geological and related data.• Working with scientists to understand their digital data needs and provide professional data compilation services.

• Ensure quality assurance documentation is up-to-date.• Maintain ongoing compliance with Australian standards.• Review and develop quality assurance protocols.• Liaise with stakeholders to collate appliance documentation.

• Process, pick and identify Cambrian microfossil material ('small shelly fossils', SSF).• Extract microfossils from limestone via acid leeching for a collaborative research project with the University of Missouri.• Image and digitse fossil material through frontier imaging techniques, i.e. 3D-Photogrammetry and Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM).• Utilise Artec Studio photogrammetry software to composite and render 3D digital fossil models. These models were published to Macquarie University's 'Pedestal' website (see: https://mq.pedestal3d.xyz/grid)

This role involved the processing of sediment samples from Lizard Island, Queensland for a Macquarie University research project. Additional responsibilities included:• Collect and identify of Great-Barrier Reef benthic foraminifera and ostracoda. • Record sediment sample data in a timely manner and maintain project data.
