About Jesse Lubera

Art. Advertising. Strategy. Marketing. Branding is an adventure into a bit of it all. It's a catalyst of growth, a visual identity; a differentiator in a world that at most times would rather seek to blend together. It's also a web of subjective intricacy that few seem equipped or willing to unravel. To build a visual brand is to build a story, and then to give that story a persona, a meaning, and a numbers-driven purpose. To pull apart and re-assemble each piece of what is - and to create what yet isn't - until it forms something that works. Brands evolve into so much more than a logo and a name. They go out into the world and become the identity of an ideal. They build and support families, teams and individuals. They bring people together; and ultimately change lives. This is where I found my passion in brand design: It's a balanced process that requires a lot of time, honest intention, and a lot of care. One can easily miss the mark. You need a blueprint of what you're building, and building toward. And much like constructing anything else; one incorrect element or piece in the wrong place, and the whole no longer functions in the intended way - or at all. My approach to illustration, design, and brand building is the result of many roads converging. I spent the first four years of my career learning the trade of signmaking from my parents. It was still an industry in transition, blending the old signpainting skills with new and constantly-advancing digital technologies. I learned to pinstripe, gild, airbrush, lay paint, fabricate and weld. I learned advanced 3D modeling, and to code and operate CNC machinery to shape sign materials to exact specifications. Meanwhile, personal pursuits lead me to study more traditional arts. Portraiture, ink and wash, engraving; painting in oils, acrylics and watercolor. I picked up chalk and discovered a long-term love for temporary and permanent large-format art. My career transitioned to a larger, full-service signage company. Over the next nine years as a lead designer and creative director, I would immerse myself in logo and vehicle design, large-format printing and wrapping, and how to design for applications that cover the full gamut of a business' collateral needs: constantly evolving and finding new ways to become a better illustrator, designer, thinker. This passion brought me to full-time brand design, where I am today. Still learning, still evolving, but constantly enjoying the challenge of dreaming up the next unique idea that will set a client apart - and on a new path to success.
