Over my working career, I have worked at only a few places. My first job was working for my grandparents for a hotel/campground in the summer. I learned many things here, including interacting with customers and making their experience a good one. Next was working at Perkins for over 9 years, where I ended up being a Kitchen Supervisor quickly. I learned many things here as well, including placing orders for the restaurant for product, putting away the order and rotating the product, handling short-handed situations, and making sure everyone was producing food the customers enjoyed. One of the strengths that I would considered that helped me excel in all of the jobs is adaptability and the ability to learn quickly. Being able to recognize what each job entails, understand the process, and then do it to the best of my ability is a strength I have. I have also recognized over time that what may have been the best process a few years ago, may not be the best process today, with the ever-changing landscape of programs and new technologies. One key in able to make the transition is that the deliverable to the customer can not change, however the process on getting the information to the customer accurately and quickly can change. Also, having team members brainstorm on a process to bring up an idea can also lead to improvements, as that one idea can trigger other ideas that could be spread to other processes or accounts. Customer service is very important for any business, whether it is face to face, e-mail, or over the phone. Customer service can also translate into good communications working with co-workers or managing employees. One last thing I have heard many times is to "Work Smarter, Not Harder". I challenge part of this statement, as I agree that we all have to Work Smarter, but that does not mean that we should not work hard. If efficiencies are found, it is a definite win! You still need to work hard to find the next thing to improve!
