As a Media and Communications officer, my role and duties varied widely. I wrote engaging match reports and preview content for a number of clients, including state and national representative sports bodies. For three of these clients I also produced a weekly newsletter to be distributed to a large member base. All content, including features, previews and mass communication and messaging was written, edited, shared and posted through various CMS by me. I planned, created and scheduled content across all social media platforms, including Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and Linkedin. Another part of my role was editing and design, using Adobe Premiere, Audition and Photoshop to create engaging graphics, videos and content for distribution.

I began working for The Resilience Project after expressing my interest in increasing their digital output and reach due to my passion for mental health advocacy. In this role I was responsible for managing the social media platforms of the organisation, providing informative and useful content to the audience. This also involved using Facebook to increase ticket and merchandise sales through targeted online campaigns.I covered live events such as TRP Public Forums with thousands of attendees, including instagram live and stories as well as shooting and editing videos for social media. I also reformatted the companies website and updated all relevant materials, copy and information to ensure accuracy and increase engagement. The Resilience Project also produced materials for use in school and workplace education which I assisted in the editing and production of.

Through La Trobe University, I was selected for a Journalism Internship at the AFL Players Association. At the Players Association I produced weekly content, including the Rising Star piece every week. I also assisted in shooting and interviewing videos with commercial partners. In this role I became comfortable interviewing elite athletes and writing engaging content in a high pressure environment. My responsibilities also included assisting in the organisation of the annual AFLPA MVP night, posting and sharing pre prepared content about the winners and managing the evenings black carpet and photo opportunities.

As Editor of Upstart Magazine I was responsible for managing 15 staff writers and five Chiefs of Staff. I led a new approach to the style and method of Upstart magazine, away from focusing on long form feature style pieces, to become a more pro active news reporting outlet which involved creating a weekly roster to ensure breaking news was covered consistently and accurately and aligned with our social media strategy. My role also involved leading a weekly staff meeting in the news room where all staff writers were required to pitch and discuss new stories for the week and provide updates on previous stories and generate a content schedule.
