I have always been interested in how things work especially electronics. This passion lead me to receiving my bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering. During my time in college, I learned the basics of programming languages such as Java, Python, and C along with integrated circuits. This experence lead me to realizing the importance of both hardware and software secuirty. I decided at that point I wanted to work in cybersecurity.As a SOC analyst I have gained hands on experience in real world secuirty events that have honed my skills in threat detection, incident response, and security operations. I am proficient in using SIEM (Security Information and Event Management) tools such as AlienVault and DataDog to analyze security events, identify anomalies, and respond to potential threats. I also enjoy researching new and upcoming threats from recently discovered exploits and prevalent threat actor groups. This has lead me to focus on developing my skills set on threat hunting and proactively looking for potential risks before they can get a foothold on the networks that I work on. Security compliance and working on policy and procedures is a subject I have more recently had the opportunity to work in. This has allowed me to gain a deeper understanding of ISO 27001/2 and NIST 800-53 Rev.5 controls. I use this knowledge when I work both monitoring network activity, responding to security events or writing procedures.
