Responsibilities include assessment and management of patients in the CICU with a variety of chief complaints including congenital heart disease with over 300 cardiac surgeries performed annually, heart failure, heart transplant, adult congenital heart disease, arrhythmias and a variety of other issues. Manage patients requiring advanced life support with ECMO as well as ventricular assist devices and pacemakers. Care for patients in medical and surgical ICUs including postoperative solid organ transplants, sepsis, oncology and BMT patients as well as medically fragile patients cared for by a busy Special Needs service. Staff and supervise the hospital transport team. Serve as code leader for internal ICU codes as well as codes and rapid responses called on acute care floors. Attend trauma codes in the emergency department and care for trauma patients transported to our pediatric level 1 trauma center. Supervise and educate pediatric residents. Anticipate board eligibility upon fellowship completion.
