Originally, I wanted to become a Lifeguard Because summer was coming up, and I wanted my first job to be one where I was able to spend some time outside, but I never could've imagined the unforeseen benefits that the job would offer. Obviously, the role of Lifeguard should not be taken lightly, but I argue that being a lifeguard fostered some of the most personal development I've ever undergone. To start, it was my first job, and I realized quickly the value of being punctual as well as professional in the workplace at all times. As time went on, I began to get into the swing of things and was even publicly recognized for standing out amongst my peers on multiple occasions. Although I no longer work here, I take the skills and lessons I've learned with me everywhere I go.• Demonstrated leadership and decision-making skills in high-stress situations• Became CPR/AED Certified• Completed First Aid Certification Course• Became Lifeguard and Water Safety Instructor (WSI) Certified

Similar to my summer job as a lifeguard, I hadn't intended for this job to be much more than a way to spend my summer outside while making some money, but once again, similar to my job as a lifeguard, this position proved to be much more than that. Teaching swim lessons gave me customer service experience as well as professional communication skills that I never would've gained without the position. This was probably one of the most rewarding jobs I could've gotten because not only was I able to teach children (and adults) valuable lifesaving water skills, but I was developing my customer service and communication skills as well.• Instructed >10 Water Safety Courses over the summer• Taught people of all ages valuable life-saving water skills• Grew customer service skills; dealing with patrons' questions as well as addressingparents' concerns
