I am a Senior Data Engineer and data scientist working in the City of Pittsburgh government. My team focuses on equity and social justice-related datasets. In a previous life I was a computational neuroscientist with a passion for coding and data analysis. In both of these roles I aimed to use my scientific and data-centric skills to benefit society. I specialize in data engineering, data modeling, statistics, EDA, and feature engineering. I have a strong background in data analytics, data visualization, data presentation, technical writing, peer review, and experimental evaluations. I am also spearheading an effort to robustly increase data governance, open data availability, and analytics capacity. I currently work with Google Cloud Platform with a heavy focus on ETL pipelines using Cloud Composer/Airflow, Dataflow, BigTable, BigQuery, and Google Cloud Storage. I routinely use Python, SQL, and BASH in my day-to-day workflow. I have practical experience configuring GCP architecture and their component managed services. I also strongly contribute to DataOps, DevOps, and team capacity development. I have 15 years of experience in data analysis, statistics, data collection, and data presentation as a PhD trained neuroscientist. In this role I focused heavily on scientific computing and statistical analysis software packages. I specialized in applied machine learning techniques, applied statistical analysis, and data visualization. My greatest strengths include high-level problem solving, critical thinking, and public speaking/data presentation.
