Intern
CurrentAs an Engineering Intern at Skykraft Pty Ltd, a leading innovator in the Australian space services sector, I have played a pivotal role in the advancement of cutting-edge satellite technologies. My primary contributions involve the design and prototyping of critical subsystems for a satellite, integrating sophisticated electronic and communication systems. My most notable recent achievements include developing a "burnwire driver," a device crucial for enabling the satellite's mechanical deployment once in orbit. This innovative mechanism is instrumental in the transition from launch configuration to operational state, ensuring the satellite can expand and function as intended in the space environment.Additionally, I have engineered a star tracker and coordinate converter, key components that empower the satellite with the capability to determine its orientation in orbit accurately. These systems are vital for the satellite's navigation and control, allowing precise alignment with celestial coordinates and facilitating successful mission operations. In these endeavors, I have utilized a range of engineering skills, from CAD modeling and additive manufacturing to in-depth electronics and software engineering. My work encompasses overseeing various project phases, from initial concept through to detailed design and prototyping, demonstrating a strong capacity for autonomous problem-solving and a commitment to delivering results. This multifaceted project, straddling the mechanical and electronic engineering spheres, has provided me with comprehensive insights into engineering design methodologies in the highly dynamic and innovative arena of space technology. It is sharpening my technical and analytical skills, enhancing my ability to address the unique challenges of the fast-paced tech industry, and deepening my understanding of its significant impact on the future of satellite communications infrastructure.
