Data analytics is a cross-functional role that oversees the transmission of data within a business’ systems from entry to exit.I liaise with researchers, marketing, user experience (UX) designers, and business stakeholders to ensure forms and applications are designed in a way that allows end users to capture data in an intuitive, accurate, and unambiguous fashion. I apply social research methods to ensure data are captured meaningfully, and data from different sources are captured in a consistent fashion to be as directly comparable as possible.I work with database administrators to centralise information capture from multiple sources with appropriate data types, changelogs and version control, scalable architecture, and ensuring the business adheres to relevant regional privacy laws.I work with business stakeholders and perform exploratory data analysis to identify areas of interest and value to the business and their customers, apply multidimensional statistical analysis to available datasets and stay up to date with developments in data visualisation techniques to present data in an engaging, meaningful, and actionable manner.I maintain comprehensive documentation of data fields, database join logic and application dependencies to ensure future application changes or data migration projects do not negatively impact existing functionality.I perform business analysis tasks such as process mapping and requirement gathering to ensure the business’ needs are well understood and implemented smoothly. When the subject matter is complex, I provide presentations and training seminars to ensure end users can take full advantage of the systems available to them.
