The National Program Director reports to the Executive Director and oversees all the Campaigns and Program Capacities of the Sierra Club including direct oversight of all energy and lands campaigns, and Organizing, Lobbying, Political, and Litigation units.

The Executive Director (ED) of the Sierra Club oversees a staff of 900, a budget of $100M and a grassroots army of 4 million members and supporters that spans 50 states. The central job of the Chief of Staff is to make the ED more effective and leveraged:1. Act as strategic thought partner to the ED on policy, finance, people and culture2. Meta project manage all high priority initiatives for the ED across his portfolio3. Serve as proxy for the ED with staff, donors, Board, allies, and other stakeholders4. Facilitate strong outcomes from ED’s direct reports by preparing for and following up on critical meetings and generally creating the conditions for success on the Executive Team5. Set the agenda for and follow up on all Executive Team, Senior Manager Group and All Staff meetings and ensure they are sequenced for maximum integration and impact

• Set strategy and exceeded goals for the Sierra Club’s $400M Climate Recovery Partnership, an unprecedented capital campaign aimed at reducing America’s carbon emissions 80% by 2050 • Drove campaign strategy development, feasibility testing, financial targeting and calibration for each of the primary initiatives of the Partnership• Oversaw Principal Gifts fundraising, Mid Level giving, and income-producing partnerships with the business community• Responsible for launching and scaling a national business development partnership with solar leasing companies to promote solar to our membership in all 50 states• Supervised three Director-level positions and was responsible for a team of nine staff with an annual budget target of over $40M

• Primarily responsible for strategic engagement and solicitation of seven-figure donors and above. Directly raised over $50M between 2008 and 2009• Served as department-wide strategic advisor to all senior fundraisers for seven and eight figure donor cultivation and solicitation plans• Directly supervised two regional fundraisers in the West and Midwest

• Directed fundraising for Sierra Club’s top donors and prospects in two regions in close coordination with the Executive Director, Trustees and Board Members • Led fundraising development of the Beyond Coal Campaign, the first major project of the Sierra Club’s Climate Recovery Partnership

Overview• With over 200 employees and venture backing from Alta Partners and Polaris Ventures, NonStopNet was a leading provider of managed services for internet content companies. NonStopNet evolved from a smaller start-up, VIDS Technologies, a value-added reseller of high-end telecom equipment and on-site services.• Over the course of 2.5 years I played a pivotal role, first as Director of Business Development, then as President, in transforming a small company into a competitive player in the data center/telecom managed services industry.

• Worked as part of cross-functional team of engineers and analysts to provide interpretation and third party verification of web traffic data from over 200 of the largest websites including Yahoo!, Netcenter, ESPN, The Tribune Companies, and CBS Sportline
