The Director is responsible for establishing and implementing the strategic direction for all Colorado Symphony's education programs. The Director works collaboratively with the Artistic, Advancement, Marketing, and Finance departments. The Director is responsible for setting annual goals, objectives, and strategies that further the Colorado Symphony's mission to achieve enhanced appreciation for and enriched understanding of music especially classical music as a vital means of expanding community engagement.Highlights: • Establish and implement the strategic direction for all education programs while raising over $90,000+ for the department through grants and corporate sponsorships, including a National Endowment for the Arts grant. • Awarded a Denver Foundation grant to organize a music organization convening to examine equity and access in music education which resulted in the formation of the Alliance for Music Education Equity (AMEE)• Lead efforts to enhance the appreciation and enrichment of classical music through outreach and community engagement• Established the symphony’s equity, diversity, and inclusion statement that was approved by the Board of Trustees, Spring 2021• Developed culturally relevant programming and produced concert performances to honor cultural heritage, diversity, and celebrate community• Leveraged existing programs to include career exploration, parent tours, nights out at the symphony, and coffee chats at Boettcher.• Organized the first-ever Garibaldi Plaza celebration, a two-hour free community event prior to the Cinco de Mayo Family Concert.• The Education department achieved the largest turnout since 2013 with 30,651 participants and a 42% increase in youth concert attendance.

The Manager of Family and Community Engagement was responsible for coordinating and managing school district events, celebrations, and trainings. The position is charged with creating a unified Parent Liaison, Community Partnership, and Community Engagement program. Tasked with supporting parent liaisons through professional development trainings and ongoing feedback, this position goal is to increase family/community engagement throughout the district by encouraging parent/guardian involvement in student learning through open houses, volunteering, parent/teacher conferences, etc. Lastly, the position will assisted in addressing parent and community concerns and recommendations and cultivated resources for families, students and programs.Highlights:• Oversaw Family & Community Engagement efforts with a District turnaround focus for Adams 14 School District• Received $34,400 from Rose Foundation/Climb Higher Colorado for family and community engagement efforts in Adams 14. • Instituted Superintendent Parent Forums to engage parents district-wide and gather input for district turnaround plan as well as the Families Empowered Institute & Resource Fair and Parent University. • Successfully launched Adams 14’s Parent to Paraprofessional program where parents support bilingual reading intervention; 13 District parents received paraprofessional credential and work for the district and the program recognized by CDE's Family, School, and Community Partnership as a promising practice. • Piloted wrap-around high-impact family engagement at a turnaround school in order to scale programming across the district.• Support both internal and external communications through the management of District website, social media, Flyer app and staff e-newsletter.

Highlights: • Served as an adviser to the Director in managing department unit goals, strategy, and data tracking systems.• Promoted to a manager to oversee a portfolio of 22 schools using high-impact parent and community engagement as a strategy for school improvement and turnaround. • Developed a strategic plan for FACE Leadership Schools and supported Empowerment Academies for DPS educators and parents. • Oversaw the implementation of District-wide parent engagement events like the Superintendent Parent Forum which grew in attendance each year by 25%. The largest turnout for our first parent forum for the 2015-16 school year was 600 participants. • Raised over $210,000 through grants and interdepartmental sponsorships to support Family Empowerment activities.
