I have over 20 years of experience serving as an academic faculty and administrator, public health practitioner, and serving in leadership positions for various non-profit organizations. I have led multiple teams of public health professionals in the development and delivery of public health workforce training in the core competencies and essential services in public health.My specific areas of focus and subject matter expertise are in environmental health workforce development, infectious disease epidemiology containment & prevention, emergency public health pandemic and all-hazards preparedness and global disaster response, community resilience, American Indian/Alaska Native/Native Hawaiian & other indigenous population health & disparities, business continuity of operations among others.My teams and I have effectively enhanced the efficacy, knowledge, skills, and abilities of tens of thousands of individuals in our target populations through the use of practical, hands-on training and learning models. The leadership and management skills I have developed from over 20 years of public health services delivery, along with my degrees in psychology, international public health, and public health infectious disease epidemiology, have given me the necessary skills and experience to effectively plan, develop, implement, and lead a wide variety of programs and activities.My global health experience includes extensive workforce and community development across the Pacific Rim, West Africa, East Africa, Madagascar, Central & South America, and the Caribbean.I love working on the forward edge of workforce development, creating and delivering training and educational resources and products to support the expansion and delivery of essential public health services. Blazing trails, while not easy, is the role I most often find myself occupying as I perform research and develop new models and techniques for addressing some of the more difficult and challenging areas of environmental health workforce development including EH hazard mitigation and programing, humanitarian disaster response, community disaster resilience, and emergency public health preparedness, response, and recovery.
