Site Characterization and Remediation:My work at Stantec included Phase II & III Subsurface Soil & Water Quality Investigations, Geochemical and Geophysical Data Collection & Analysis, Implementation of Contaminant Remedial Strategies, Project Review & Regulatory Compliance Reporting. Marcellus Shale-Gas Groundwater Protection Team:My experience with the Natural Gas Industry includes environmental assessment and regulatory compliance projects. During my time at Stantec I was involved with a variety of projects including: baseline ('pre-drill') water quality assessments for residential well/spring water and surface water locations near drilling sites; follow-up comparative water-quality monitoring; new-inquiry complaint investigations; stray-gas investigations, spill-response/incident investigations & remedial action implementation and associated reporting.

Through a year-long research grant provided by the USGS & VADMME, I developed an original 1:24,000 scale bedrock geologic map of the Luray, VA 7.5-minute quadrangle under the direction of Dr. Steven Whitmeyer. The map and accompanying technical memo provided an updated interpretation of the relationship between the Vaughn Fault zone, the Blue Ridge thrust system, and the array of less prominent faults in the area. Extensive field mapping and analysis of samples identified undocumented structural features and revised stratigraphic contacts, with broader implications for the nature of Alleghenian orogenesis in western Virginia.
