As workshop manager at Go Automotive I am responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the business, from controlling workflow to managing our team of highly capable mechanics. In our office my duties include taking bookings, coordinating our stock control and sourcing and pre ordering services and components, handling customer inquiries, invoices and estimating and maintaining detailed records. I have also been able to implement better quality control standards across all areas of the business, and continually monitored and updated our safety protocols including the regular maintenance of the work environment, and its equipment and tooling. My successes in this role have included being the driving factor for significant improvements in quality control and acceptable standards of workmanship, resulting in greatly improved customer satisfaction and return rate, and greatly reduced warranty issues. I have streamlined inventory and workflow management by using 6S methods, which has all contributed to the higher overall levels of profitability and efficiency of our workshop.

At Woolworths I had several roles in my 6 years of employment here, one being a Team Coordinator (leading hand) at the distribution centre in Barnawartha on afternoon shift, helping to improve the efficiency and performance of floor staff by helping with training and efficiency management, and in a support role to ensure the smooth operation of our shift. I took site safety and improvement very seriously here and as such became the main HSR safety delegate on my shift, as I was one of the few staff with certification to use scissor lifts, forklifts, recovery equipment and all manor of MHE on site. One of my other roles included an order selector and forklift operator which required the locating and selecting of items from shelves, ensuring product quality and quantities in a fast-paced warehouse environment. Efficiency and attention to detail were crucial to ensuring timely and accurate order fulfillment in this role.

At Overall Forge I gained invaluable experience in machining, forging, and mechanical maintenance. My work here included the operation and maintenance of lathes, vertical borers, milling machines, and bandsaws, using which to make precision metal parts for the oil, gas, mining and aerospace industries. I developed a proficiency in using various tools and equipment, problem-solving abilities for troubleshooting machinery issues, and attention to detail to ensure high-quality production standards. I was involved in the machining, maintenance and forging departments, a true testament to my versatility.

As an apprentice mechanic at Tollis and Sons Automotive, I was privy to a vast array of vehicles, cars and four wheel drive vehicles to boats buses and trucks. Because of this I was lucky enough to gain a wide knowledge of skills of engine systems, electrical diagnostics, and the intricacies of brakes, transmissions, and suspension systems. My work here involved everything from performing routine services and maintenance to system rebuilds, high level diagnostics and modifications. I was a top ten finalist for apprentice of the year in 2009, and in 2010 received a scholarship to travel overseas with the AOF foundation.
