Joining the Sabre Hospitality Solutions branch of Sabre in September of 2017, I was immediately immersed in their codebase. Sabre is a global leader in technology solutions company serving the ever-growing travel industry. With many well-known clients such as American Airlines, Wyndham, and Marriott. I happened to work for SHS (Sabre Hospitality Solutions), which provides over 40,000 hotels with custom technology solutions (i.e. websites).Initially, my primary role was on the maintenance side of SHS, working closely with the DevOps team and fixing other miscellaneous issues. There is no better way to familiarize yourself with legacy code than to dive right into it and fix things. I was able to gain a new set of skills in the DevOps area as well as learning new PHP frameworks (SlimPHP, Yii). Throughout my time at SHS I was able to work with a global client on a number of enhancements to their website with the largest enhancement being an integration with a language translation API. The final and largest project that I was the Engineering Anchor for was a Hotel Booking Agent Application, used by the company call-centers for direct bookings. This service was fully built using SlimPHP as our backend API endpoint router, and Vue.js for our frontend framework. It integrated with two CRS (Central Reservation System) and three more additional 3rd party API’s. My contributions to this application were building out the API library for our UI team to consume and automating deployments using AWS CloudFormation.

30 Lines, an established startup disrupting the multifamily market, focused on creating an online experience in the apartment-search game. Taking searching for an apartment from being a difficult online/in-person search process and truly creating an experience for the customer and providing all information online needed to make a new home choice. Building web applications that hooked into multiple property management systems and aggregating pricing and availability was just the start to the future of apartment searching. As the development team manager, my responsibilities included but were not limited to guiding the team towards coding best practices and implementation of reusable code. Alongside leading the dev team I provided direction and scope of our main product, Top Line Connect, a feed aggregator of multiple property management systems API's. With taking on many custom websites at a time, along with email coding on a weekly basis, some days would be spent on one project and others on multiple projects. Ibel believed in doing everything from scratch and not using any plugins within WordPress, therefore this was a great learning experience in truly understanding the in's and out's of WordPress.

Although titled Web Developer, my responsibilities extend further than just developing websites. While here I have been involved in, but not limited to, client interaction and strategy planning, mock-up presentation and review, development of the client’s new website and fine tuning the final product. Contribution of knowledge among out team has been essential and I have been able to see the team advance in our process and skills. Applying and contributing knowledge in SEO, CSS, UI/UX, Adobe Creative Suite and more, I have been able to see others advance in their knowledge and myself as well. Designing and developing a website that not only pleases the clients expectations, but is going to serve as a great marketing tool for their business is a great feeling. I have learned new ways to meet clients expectations and functionality of their website while integrating with a CMS platform so the client is able to update their website in the end.

Opportunity presented itself for advancement in the Student Services of Miami University. I took the opportunity as student manager at Bell Tower Place Dining Hall. With a new role came new responsibilities. The managing responsibilities of the Student Manager position include overseeing employees, making sure different stations were in compliance with sanitation guidelines and creating a work environment that is nondiscriminatory and inviting. Organization and time management was the absolute most important quality I could bring to the table in order to handle situations as they arise.
