Medical Practices from time to time need help in "righting the ship." My time with MedMan is spent transitioning clinics from crisis mode to stabilization. This is mostly done by being onsite at a clinic and providing the leadership necessary to improve staff morale, organize operations and set the right course financially.

In a time of such large industry shifts and turmoil, I found an opportunity to become further educated in all things Affordable Care Act, to finance my education and to help those in Southeastern Idaho navigate the complex area of health insurance. I developed advantageous relationships with those from the Idaho state exchange as well as those from the various insurance companies that have facilitated the necessary assistance required to solve a large amount of customers' complex insurance cases. Owning my own small business provided me the insight into what self-driven work ethic really means and what it takes to become a successful entrepreneur.

The Bengal Solutions program gave me the opportunity to work with real world health care businesses including but not limited to hospitals, physician clinics, surgery centers and practice management groups. Both within a team, as well as individually, I dedicated my time and energy into helping these institutions improve upon their operational, managerial and financial well-being. Included are a few specific examples of recent deliverables:Hospital - Carried out research specific to CHF patient readmission rates for a Level 2 Trauma Center. This research was used to develop an actionable plan to improve the quality of care for CHF patients while improving reimbursement standards for the hospital.Hospice Company – Produced feasibility analysis for two new major projects that aided in the institution’s decisions to buy a new facility and implement a new line of serviceMental Health Facility – Developed and carried out a series of workshops, centered around the facility’s revenue cycle, that improved the practice’s cash cycle and had a crucial impact on the business' ability to become profitableMedical Management Group – Performed a market research study on the direction of health care regarding clinical integration that served as an influential reference for the board of directors in developing the company’s strategic planSurgery Center – Carried out a time and workflow study that analyzed the practice’s processes and their corresponding times resulting in a more conducive workflow, shorter procedure times and improved patient satisfaction scores

Clinical integration and population health are on the forefront of our nation's progression to an enhanced health care industry. The Portneuf Quality Alliance (PQA) is Southeastern Idaho's first clinically integrated network and is steadily working towards improving the health and lives of this area's residents. From my time with PQA I have gained skills and knowledge that would prove beneficial to any institution's efforts to align providers, IT, incentives and reimbursements in order to provide a higher quality of care at a lower cost. I am able to draw on experience in physician recruitment, payer fee schedules, metric development, risk management, network strategy and much more.

Although in a different industry, Wells Fargo set the stage for my professional career and allowed me to gain experience both in finance and management. Bringing together departments, such as private banking and commercial lending, to meet all of the needs of a client became my focus in creating and maintaining strong relationships with customers and the community. These integrated solutions that required coordinated expertise and effort from multiple sources have set the tone for how I develop strategy and approach complicated problems.
