Most people are surprised to learn I started my career as a chemical engineer, working in 'America's most complex glass making facility.' However, programming was always a part of my life and it literally took driving 1-hour (each way) to and from work, working 12 hour shifts, coming home drenched in sweat and caked in dirt, to realize that I was still looking forward to combing through my development books and working on whatever project I had going at the time, each and every night. As for why? Well, I think that it's amazing to create something from nothing. To be able to take a thought, diagram it out, wrap it in logic, flavor it with my code of choice, and watch as it has the potential to positively impact an ever-increasing audience... it's incredible. When the realization finally took hold and I knew deep down that programming was my passion, I decided to 'jump' and fully commit to learning as much as I could, as fast as I could. I put 200% effort into becoming a true, full-stack developer.
