I have over two decades in small business computer and network support, my website is https://jptechnical.com, which is subjectively boring, because marketing just isn't a big focus for me right now. What I do focus on is giving my existing clients the best the industry has to offer in collaboration tools and security strategies. We have both contract and ad-hoc clients, and we have been learning the benefits of an all-you-can-eat remote support model, namely that we don't have to treat every phone call like an emergency. I treat every client's network as my own, with great care in keeping their systems running smooth and efficiently. I have been using remote support tools long before LogMeIn and GoToAssist every existed. And I have been utilizing virtualization technology since the early days of hobby use. I have also been a Dell sales partner for nearly over 20 years, I focus on the business class products such as the OptiPlex, Latitude and PowerEdge. In recent years I have seen a lot more Apple devices in the mainstream small business, and we even moved out computing over to Apples. But I could never give up my Google Pixel phones. In the end, the computer/tablet/phone is just a window into your digital infrastructure. We have been cloud-first since 2007. When COVID hit, our client's biggest challenge was finding headsets and webcams, because we already set them up for remote work as part of our SOP. Most recently I have been standardizing on ProxMox for virtualization, I am continually impressed with what the open-source community can do with already stable and well-proven technology, and bundling that into easy-to-use and rock-solid stable infrastructure tools. I am also glad to see Linux continue to be put into service in more places. But, in the end, it's not about my favorites, it's about what works for the client.Over the last decade, I have also volunteered with a global non-profit in their Orchestrated Operations teams, working with Kubernetes and building systems at scale. I started transitioning most of my business operations to a DevoOps discipline in 2018, focusing on automation wherever possible.I love a challenge, and I enjoy helping my clients dig themselves out of their technical debt. I also love helping businesses get more out of the tools they already have, and helping them refine their existing processes, with a fresh perspective, without just changing things for the sake of change.
