As a crisis management specialist with a strong foundation in anti-oppressive mental health practices and a decolonial perspective, I leverage my dual expertise in mental health and law enforcement to provide holistic, trauma-informed interventions. Grounded in neuroscience, my approach emphasizes understanding the brain's response to trauma and stress, enabling evidence-based strategies for effective crisis resolution. With advanced skills in crisis intervention, including Crisis Intervention Training (CIT) and Critical Incident Stress Management Debriefing for first responders, I ensure responsive and informed support during high-pressure situations. Through a proactive and culturally affirmative lens, I am dedicated to equipping individuals and organizations with tools for resilience and recovery in times of crisis.I am a first-generation bilingual Afro-Latina woman of Dominican descent who is dedicated to bringing to the forefront the effects of inter-generational trauma to the Black, Indigenous, People of Color (BIPOC) communities, particularly those serving as law enforcement officers. I am a Licensed Social Worker with over 29 years of experience in the social work field, SIFI certified, an international speaker, and a retired law enforcement officer from the New York City Police Department after completing 20 years of service.Currently, I am working towards my doctoral degree at The Chicago School of Professional Psychology in the International Psychology program with a concentration in Trauma Studies. My research interests include global mental health, policing, developmental & systemic trauma, identity formation, and gender-based violence.We offer training specific to your agency's needs and are available as panelists and speakers.
