I'm a big fan of hardware-in-the-loop development tools for hardware and software development in power conversion. Some of my previous work includes electric ship integrated power systems integrating DC distribution and power electronic loads. I've also worked with several power conversion OEMs to support product development and certification with university high power lab equipment. Other work has gone down several rabbit holes from microgrids (controls development and CHIL testing all the way to site commissioning), medium voltage highspeed motors and SiC drives, campus energy management systems, and combined heat and power (CHP) ORC systems.
