The 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment’s mission is to organize, equip, train, resource and employ Army special operations aviation forces worldwide in support of contingency missions and combatant commanders. Known as Night Stalkers, these Soldiers are recognized for their proficiency in nighttime operations. They are highly trained and ready to accomplish the very toughest missions in all environments, anywhere in the world, day or night, with unparalleled precision.Qualifications Include:• Specialist in great standing with the most elite aviation unit of the United States Army• Supervises and performs maintenance on CH-47 helicopters• Removes and installs aircraft subsystem assemblies, including but not limited to: engines, rotors, gearboxes, transmissions, mechanical flight control, and components relating to the above• Prepare aircraft for inspections and maintenance checks• Performs and assists in performing scheduled and special inspections• Performs limited maintenance operational checks• Assists in diagnosing and troubleshooting aircraft subsystems using special tools and equipment• Performs operator maintenance on tools, special tools, and aircraft ground support equipment• Inventory management relating to tools and equipment• Administrative skills include preparing forms, records, and reports related to aircraft maintenanceCompleted Military Coursework comparable to courses such as Helicopter Systems, Crew Resource Management, Military Science, Airframe Systems, Industrial Safety, and more. Additional skills and qualifications include, but are not limited to, the following:• deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan• Successful completion of Survival Evasion Resistance and Escape (SERE) courses• Human Rights Awareness Education
