I serve as a lead developer, team lead, solutions architect, and technical lead on projects with a focus on delivering machine learning/artificial intelligence products. Thus far, my work has spanned many different fields - humanitarian aid/disaster response, cybersecurity, health, and GIS, for example. The products I have built have utilized a wide variety of ML approaches, including deep learning, computer vision, reinforcement learning, and ensemble modeling. I also mentor early career data scientists and help underrepresented/marginalized people transition to technical careers.

I conduct advanced mathematical & statistical analyses, including multiwavelength photometry and spectroscopy, of galaxies with a focus on bulgeless galaxies hosting AGN. For data reduction and analysis, I utilize standard software and programming languages, e.g.:- Python- IRAF- TOPCAT- SAOImage DS9- GALFIT- Astrodrizzle

I founded and currently manage Van Vleck Observatory's Kids'​ Night outreach program. Targeted at elementary school to early middle school students, the Kids'​ Night program is held twice a month and includes a presentation followed by a series of hands on activities or experiments. In addition to creating the program, I organize and schedule the speakers, topics, and activities. I also am responsible for advertising the program and have been interviewed by local newspapers to discuss its creation [1]. Kids'​ Nights often include observing with our 16"​, 10"​ or 8"​ telescopes, use of our portable planetarium, experiments with chemicals, and craft activities. I manage and oversee the use and maintenance of these supplies as well. I also contribute to the youth outreach program at the observatory and have conducted numerous in-school presentations and workshops. I am a teaching assistant for introductory level astronomy classes, ranging from those for students with a science and math background to freshmen with non-science backgrounds. In addition to holding office hours and grading, I also organize and supervise a weekly lab session in which the students conduct a variety of astronomical projects like observing planetary nebulae, making Hertzsprung Russell diagrams, or classifying galaxies. Some classes require observing sessions in which I conduct nighttime observations of stars, planets, star clusters, nebulae, or galaxies using binoculars, 8"​ telescope, 10"​ telescope, or 16" telescope. I also provide one on one tutoring in writing, math, and astronomy.

I conducted research under Professor Shobita Satyapal as part of the School of Physics, Astronomy, and Computational Sciences. Our project involved a large scale database census of low-mass galaxies. I specialized in the data reduction from the infrared space telescope Spitzer using SMART and CUBISM software. Past projects included a multi-wavelength analysis of dwarf galaxy NGC 4670 (poster presentation at AAS 2014, paper forthcoming) and a research project into dual AGN. I went beyond my basic role as a research affiliate by organizing and aggregating research data from the whole team into easily referenced databases, I also created numerous science images for analysis and images for use in posters and presentations.

As a writer for the National Young Farmers' Coalition, I write well researched articles on a variety of topics from agricultural policy to news to events! I began volunteering for FCPS as a math and reading tutor for special needs children. In the past several years, I conducted numerous independent presentations and Socratic seminars for grades 4-6 on a variety of topics including black holes, the solar system, gravity, philosophy, North Africa, linguistics, math, essay structure, and metaphysics. I used these opportunities as a presenter and volunteer to pursue my love of scientific outreach, encouraging and inspiring students to pursue scientific inquiry. I specialized in presentations for special needs classrooms.

As an intern for High-Phi program, I was tasked with integrating philosophy into local high schools. I was assigned to a 10th grade class, in which I planned and taught a series of specialized lessons on human nature and society. I also conducted a final debate seminar on philosophical viewpoints in Lord of the Flies. Besides the weekly lessons and presentations to the class, my duties included fostering philosophical thinking by managing classroom discussions, creating worksheets in order to guide learning, and coordinating with the hosting teacher. I also conducted presentations to the High Phi program on the process of teaching philosophy, strategies for overcoming common obstacles, and on teaching pedagogy.

I coordinated the social media outreach and production for the independent student newspaper, The Cavalier Daily. This included researching innovative new platforms, methodologies, and improvements for the social media section. I pioneered the Social Media Manager position by laying the foundation for future social media outreach. I managed multiple platforms, including Twitter, Facebook, and Storify, organized and conducted live Tweet events to raise content visibility, and created guides for social media usage in order to inform future managers. Finally, I researched and produced official reports, detailing social media usage and statistics.

As a student archivist, I digitally archived rare and antique materials by first capturing them using cruse scanners, Phase One P45+ digital backs attached to Hasselblad cameras, and large format flatbed scanners. Then, I organized the materials into databases, complete with metadata, images, and technical information. After working for some time, I conducted the final quality assurance tests and delivered our portfolios to the client. I also managed specialized training for new archivists in the technical/analysis skills unique to these advanced projects. The aforementioned projects I completed were high visibility, time-sensitive deliverables of advanced image analysis, verification of technical metadata, and reorganization of 6000+ un-catalogued items. I also received extensive training on the care and handling of rare and antique materials.
