About Jesse Thoren

My first degree was in Mathematics, and spent 5 years teaching middle and high school mathematics at a small charter school in Porterville, CA. I wore a variety of hats during the 5 years I spent at Summit Charter Collegiate Academy, from serving as a department chair to serving on a variety of leadership committees - school accreditation, International Baccalaureate leadership committee (during SCCA's MYP candidacy period), and curriculum development.I found teaching unable to scratch my problem solving desire, so I prepared and returned to school to complete a second bachelor's degree in computer science (and luckily, there's been no shortage of problems to solve since!). I enjoyed working at DPS Telecom in Fresno CA between October 2017 and January 2022; as a Lead Embedded Systems Engineer, I was able to manage development on and implement firmware for a new generational product line, while extending legacy firmware to support additional feature sets in response to client requests for customized behavior.Since January 2022, I have been employed as a Software Engineer for Modius, working to extend the OpenData monitoring platform.I have worked with Java, Python, Javascript, and C/C++, among a number of additional languages, and am always interested in expanding the breadth and depth of knowledge I have in the field.
