A noteworthy achievement was our successful fabrication of bioprotonic devices by combining these palladium contacts with lipid bilayers, thereby enabling the monitoring and control of ion transport to create switches and memories. Additionally, the incorporation of DNA nanopores (artificial ion channels) demonstrated the extensive potential applications of bioprotonic devices in the controlled transport of ions, highlighting my contributions to advancing our understanding of bioelectronics and its wide-ranging implications in fields such as therapy, drug delivery/discovery, data storage, and environmental monitoring. This technology has recently been proven to be able to detect biomolecules that indicate the presence of human disease, amongst other applications.I also seized the opportunity to aid in the improvement of organic electrochemical transistor production as a side project, streamlining the output of a better quality product and consistent fabrication recipe.
